Gaming has been referred to as a “waste of time” for as long as I can remember. Slowly, however, the advantages of gaming began to be researched and brought to the public’s attention. Now that esports is gaining popularity; there are even more advantages to being a part of the gaming community.
Health
If you haven’t noticed, this website is all about improving esports and gaming performance by improving players’ health and fitness. The following benefits are more general and would be of interest to parents of young children. You can visit ข่าวesport to know about esports.
However, if you’re a gamer, there are several advantages that gaming can provide and most likely has already provided.
Reduced Stress
Perhaps this is what drew many of us to gaming in the first place. Gaming can be a fantastic way to relieve stress. Getting away from stress and spending time doing something you enjoy can benefit your health and well-being.
I’m not suggesting that playing video games can help you “escape all of your problems.” Gaming is comparable to any other pastime, such as gardening, reading, or golfing.
The health of the Mind
A six-month study was conducted on older adults who played Super Mario 64 for 30 minutes five days a week. The researchers discovered increases in three major brain areas: the prefrontal cortex, right hippocampus, and cerebellum.
Cerebellum
This is the area of brain that is in charge of fine motor skills and muscular activity. It collects data from your sensory systems and then controls your motor movements. You use this for your voluntary movements (posture, balance, coordination, and speech).
What I found fascinating is that the study showed better results for gamers who took the game more seriously, i.e., those who genuinely wanted to beat the game and figure out all of the challenges on various levels.
Eyesight
Gaming has also been found to help people improve their vision. According to a study, people who played video games, particularly first-person shooters, had a better perception of color contrast. Players become more sensitive to different shades of color as a result of gaming.
I’ve found that once I got a 144hz 1ms gaming monitor, I rarely needed to wear my reading glasses during the day.
Physical Fitness
This one has a “shady” feel to it. Of course, video games keep kids active, but we’re concentrating on competitive gaming and esports. Long periods of sedentary behavior are harmful to your health, but learning how to counteract those effects and incorporate physical activity can help you improve your health.
I’ve converted my gaming desk into a standing one because I no longer play on a serious (i.e., competitive) level.
This can help to prevent the negative effects of sedentary behavior and burn calories and improve posture. However, as I mentioned in my post about standing desks, this should only be considered if you aren’t trying to be competitive and compete in tournaments.
Sure, use one when you’re not gaming, but it’s best to practise in an environment as similar to your competition as possible. See my post on whether professional gaming should be considered a sport, which is backed up by scientific sports research, for a more in-depth look at the physical demands placed on gamers.
