Regardless of your favourite season, summertime brings with it many things to look forward to. Whether you prefer outdoor activities, indoor activities, the heat or the cold, there is something for everyone during this time of year. Below are 10 reasons to anticipate the arrival of summer.
We can bring the hope of events in Washington state. We have a wide variety of events in our region, from concerts and festivals to exhibitions and conventions. Our goal is for you not just to make memories but unforgettable ones!
Vacation
While it is not the only time of year to travel, it is definitely one of the most popular. Summer means taking a break from the ordinary and exploring a new place. If finances allow, that could mean a big trip to some place like Disney World, or even an international trip to Paris or Spain.
If you do not have the funds for a big trip, this does not mean you are stuck at home. Take a road trip to a place you have never visited in your state and stay at a local hotel for a long weekend. Just make sure you pack all your essentials, like face cleanser, clean clothes, CBD flower and a water bottle.
Break From School
Whether you are in your twenties or decided to go back to school well into your fifties, summer equals a welcomed break from classes and homework assignments. If you have school-aged kids, this also means you get more time with them. Take advantage of the break and plan some fun events with the family.
Barbeques
Nothing says “summer” quite like a good barbeque. If your grill has not seen any use for a few months, dust it off and gas it up. Invite friends over for some fun socializing and yummy food. Just do not forget about the vegetarian guests. Make sure there are veggie burgers or other meat-free options for them to partake in.
Pool Parties
Be it a competitive game of water volleyball or simply lounging about on an inflatable, summer means some welcomed time in the pool. If you do not have a pool, research local pools or water parks in your area. Coordinate a time to meet friends for some fun in the sun. Keep in mind, if you are going to a public pool, many will offer discounted admission on certain days.
Longer Days
One of the tough things about winter is that many people leave for work when it is dark and head back home when it is dark, making the days feel very brief. Not so for summertime! The sun stays out longer for more hours of daylight, giving you extra hours of sunlight to squeeze in a few more errands.
Outdoor Exercises
If you want to try some outdoor workouts, now is the time. Go for a run, ride a bike or rollerblade. Simply going for a walk can provide health benefits, not to mention some nutritious vitamin D from the sun.
Outdoor Concerts
While indoor concerts are great, outdoor concerts just have a different atmosphere. If you love music, summer is the time to see one of your favorite bands. Be sure you book tickets well in advance.
Shorts and Sundresses
During summer, you trade frumpy sweaters and thick leggings for comfy shorts and breezy sundresses. If you are strapped for cash, shop around at the local thrift stores for quality options at a fraction of the cost. Just do not forget your SPF when you go outside.
Produce
Many fruits are at peak freshness during summer. Now is the time to indulge in these sweet treats. Make a delicious fruit salad from fresh watermelon, strawberries and mango.
Independence Day
Finally, summer would not be complete without an Independence Day party. Celebrate this summer holiday by grilling out and lighting sparklers in the backyard. Many towns throw an Independence Day party, complete with corn dogs, rides and fireworks. If you do not want to host an event, head over to one of the local town’s shindigs.
No matter what your favorite part of summer is, there are numerous things and activities to look forward to. Consider the above list when prepping for your summer adventures.
