Delhi is the capital city of India which is quite famous for its food and architecture. It has many noteworthy monuments which were built by some of the great kings and emperors of their time. One of the most popular colleges of Delhi University, Hansraj College was established in the year 1948. It is also known as ‘Shahrukh Ka College’ because once Sharukh Khan used to study here and not just Sharukh, the college has a long list of notable alumni including Anurag Kashyap, Ranvijay Singh, Ajay Maken, and Anil Aggarwal. The departments of Hansraj College include science, liberal arts and commerce streams and were ranked the 4th best college by India Today in 2019.
The college has a much-talked hangout point known as the lover’s point, situated in the heart of college campus. The college has an old-world charm with red-bricked buildings and green lush lawns.
- Hindu College
Hindu College is one of the oldest colleges of the Delhi University, established in the year 1899. It is another jewel of north campus accepting only the cream of students from various boards every year. The college is quite renowned for its science courses but also offer many other courses. If you get to visit this college, then don’t miss the Virgin Tree pooja on V-day! The college has very good infrastructure with well-built buildings, large playground and lawns.
There are many famous hangout spots near the college where you can go with your friends after the lectures. The placement of the college is also quite good with many big companies visiting its campus.
- Miranda House
Established in 1948, Miranda House is a world-class girl’s college of the University of Delhi, located in the north campus. It offers various courses which include B.A. Economics (Hons), B.A. Political Science (Hons), B.A. English (Hons), BSc. Chemistry (Hons), and more. The teaching staff is quite experienced in their fields.
The campus is quite good with Wi-Fi enabled and air-conditioned classrooms although it is built like buildings of a past epoch. The crowd is quite amazing and lively and their annual fest “Tempest” is one of the most happening fests of the university.
- Lady Shri Ram College
It is another top-notch women’s College of Delhi University, located in the Lajpat Nagar area of South Delhi. It is ranked 2nd among colleges in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), 2020. The college was established in 1956 in the memory Phoolan Devi (Lady Shri Ram) wife of late Lala Shri Ram.
The college has good infrastructure with well-maintained buildings and a newly refurbished, computerized user-friendly library. The college crowd is quite lively and the canteen serves saporous food at low prices.
